If you or a loved one are going through
court proceedings involving family
issues and a restraining or protective
order is entered in your case, it can
suspend your ability to purchase or
possess firearms. Language in the
court order prohibiting any acts of family
violence, whether or not family violence
actually occurred, make it so the person
whom the order impacts is legally barred
from the purchase or possession of
any firearm. Believe it or not, the family
courts have the ability to suspend your

8. Illegal aliens or aliens admitted under a non-immigrant visa
Persons who are illegally in the United States may not legally
purchase, possess, or transport firearms. Generally, non-immigrant
aliens are also prohibited from legally purchasing, possessing, or
transporting firearms. See 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(5).
Exceptions for non-immigrant aliens
However, a non-immigrant alien who has been admitted under a
non-immigrant visa is not prohibited from purchasing, receiving, or
possessing a firearm if the person falls within one of the following
exceptions:
1) if the person was admitted to the United States for lawful
hunting or sporting purposes or is in possession of a hunting
license or permit lawfully issued in the United States;
