WHAT DO I DO IMMEDIATELY AFTER I USE MY FIREARM?
1. Make sure that the threat is contained or neutralized;
2. Return your firearm to safekeeping;
3. Call 911 and tell them you (or another person) have been
the victim of a crime. Give the operator your location and
description. Avoid giving any unnecessary information, and
avoid telling them you shot someone. It may be wise to
suggest an ambulance is needed. Then hang up with 911.
4. Call the U.S. LawShield Emergency Hotline and follow the
instructions your program attorney gives you;
5. Wait for the police, and do not touch any evidence;
6. If directed by your attorney, provide the police only simple
details of the crime against you;
7. Be careful of police questions, and always be ready to invoke
your right to silence and your right to counsel at any time.
