does not provide effective 30.05 notice to a constitutional carrier
or 30.06 and/or 30.07 notice to an LTC holder, a person may carry
within the premises of the house of religious worship. However,
religious entities are free to post these signs if they choose to
prohibit handguns within their premises.
G. College campuses
As of September 1, 2021, under the Firearm Carry Act of 2021,
an unlicensed, constitutional carrier is allowed to walk the parking
lots, parking garages, streets, sidewalks, and walkways of a college
campus, as well as grounds where a school-sponsored activity is
not taking place, with a concealed or openly holstered handgun.
However, once that constitutional carrier reaches the threshold
of a building, school-sponsored activity, or sporting event of that
college or university, they cannot carry.
LTC holders may also carry a concealed handgun in the parking
lots, parking garages, streets, sidewalks, walkways, and into the
buildings on the campus of a public or private institution of higher
learning (including junior colleges) if the specific building does not
have effective Texas Penal Code Section 30.06 notice prohibiting
concealed carry of handguns. See Tex. Penal Code § 46.03(a)(1)
(B). Additionally, LTC carriers without effective 30.06 notice
may carry concealed onto the premises, grounds, and buildings
where a sponsored activity is taking place as well as a passenger
transportation vehicle of an institution of higher learning.
Disregarding a 30.06 notice in these locations is punishable as a
Class A misdemeanor. See Tex. Penal Code § 46.03(g-2).
An LTC holder who does not keep their handgun concealed on the
premises, grounds, and buildings of a private institution of higher
