Personal-use, mobile spike strips are also prohibited. These strips
should not be confused with permanent traffic control devices that
are “designed to puncture one or more of a vehicle’s tires when
driven over in a specific direction; and [have] a clearly visible
sign posted in close proximity to the traffic control device that
prohibits entry or warns motor vehicle operators of the traffic
control device.” See Tex. Penal Code § 46.01(17). These types
of traffic control devices are often seen at airports and other
secured facilities to prevent the unauthorized entry or exit from
the facility, such as the one pictured below.
C. Additional weapons prohibited by Texas Penal Code Section
46.05 unless NFA compliance is met
Section 46.05 also prohibits the following weapons and devices
which are discussed in greater detail in Chapter 18, “National
Firearms Act.” These weapons include:
• Explosive weapons;
• Machine guns; and
• Short-barreled firearms.
