Additionally, private property owners retain the ability to exclude
knives from their property with a general “no trespassing,” “no
knives,” or “no weapons” warning. The Texas Legislature did not
create a specific criminal trespassing statute to cover locationrestricted knives in the way that Texas Penal Code Sections 30.05,
30.06, and 30.07 do for constitutional carriers and LTC holders
carrying a handgun.
2. Exception for location-restricted knives
Texas Penal Code Section 46.15(e) provides a specific exception to
the law prohibiting the carrying of location-restricted knives if the
weapon is used in a historical demonstration or in a ceremony in
which, the knife is significant to the performance of the ceremony.
This exception exists because the Texas Legislature recognizes
that some location-restricted knives are necessary in historical
reenactments and ceremonies.
