AOW is a firearm capable of being concealed from which a shot
can be discharged. In other words, making a potato gun would be a
zip gun, but putting a gun inside of an umbrella would be an AOW.

2. Pistols and revolvers having a smooth-bore barrel for firing
shotgun shells
Pistols and revolvers which have a smooth bore (no rifling) that are
designed to shoot shotgun ammunition are defined as AOWs. The
ATF cites firearms such as the H&R Handy Gun or the Ithaca Auto
& Burglar Gun as firearms that fall under the AOW category. Note:
handguns with partially rifled barrels, such as The Judge, do not fall
under this category due to the rifling of the barrel.
